What we do
Our volunteers collect the edible food from our contributing donors and deliver it to our premises where we inspect, sort, weigh, record and store the food.
It is kept for a minimum time on site in the appropriate conditions and temperatures in accordance with food safety regulations until the participating groups collect it and distribute it to their clients.
Through the above actions GKR's work allows our community support groups to focus on their core, wrap around services rather than sourcing food for their clients.
We enable food producers, suppliers and vendors the opportunity to reduce their waste disposal costs and allow them to appreciate that not only is food rescue possible but also an ethical and viable long-term option to assist with their environmental and community support goals.
So far we have collected and distributed over 30,000 kilograms of food.....that's 30 tonnes and counting!!
